Arca Document Management System
Arca is 3Squared's Document Management System, having the advantage of being written in house using proven technologies, it can be easily customised to meet your requirements.
The key features of Arca are listed below:
- Central store for company documents – eases manageability of company assets.
- Version Control – previous versions of documents are stored within the system. The number of versions kept can be set by the administrator.
- Flexible and powerful search – Searches can be performed on the full text of the document or any of its metadata. Different types of searches can be performed on documents:
- Exclusion – Exclude words from a search,
- Unit Search - only show documents where two words appear in a particular paragraph
- Adjacency - Return documents where a particular word appears near another word.
- Frequency – Return documents where a word occurs a minimum amount of times
- Like – If you are unsure of how a word should be spelt then the ‘?' operator can be used.
- Wildcard – Returns documents where a particular letter/s occur.
- Choice – Returns documents where a choice of words occur.
- Document Locking – Documents can be checked out for editing, which locks the document so that it can then only be viewed by other users.
- Security – Documents can be secured individually or as part of a group of other documents.
- Multiple File Format Support
- Flexible and Scalable – Built using XML technologies, which helps to facilitate content reuse for example it would be possible to repurpose parts of multiple documents to make a new document, or for the content of the document to be displayed in multiple formats (Word, PDF, PC, Mac, PDA, Mobile Device etc). Arca is also capable of storing and querying millions of documents.
It would also be possible to integrate Arca into existing systems so that Arco functionality could be included in other applications.
Arca provides all the functionality of a database but for documents. As the software is capable of storing and searching anything from one to over a million documents it is highly scalable and can therefore meet any organisation's requirements.
