Twitter will replace Google one day

It has been debated online about Twitter taking over from Google for people's every day search engine.

Search engines have no personality, they simply show fact based results. If users are wanting opinionated responses about a product or service then Twitter is the way forward - honest answers from millions of users, in real-time.

Twitter will replace Google for the majority of people, these users don't know or care about the search process, they just want to know the end result. Google will no doubt evolve their searches to include Twitter-like functionality, for example. they are already showing real-time Twitter results in their 'news' category under certain topics.

Twitter is capable of understanding natural language, dealing with ambiguity and engaging in conversations. The crowd might not always answer your problem, but they may point you in a new direction, or create the answer for you. What people want will be visible for all to see.

As membership in Twitter grows, the more useful it becomes. Knowledge, experience and skill will be added, one person at a time. People will benefit from connecting with each other to filter through the data and find information they need. Relationships will emerge that will be more powerful than any allegiance to a search engine.

If you haven't already, join Twitter. If you are already using Twitter, start engaging with people. Answer their questions, see what people want, pay attention. Twitter is not just a way of telling the world what you had for breakfast.

Next time you are having a hard time finding something on the web try Twitter, the crowd may be able to help you out.
