Growing software development firm attract attention from Apple after the launch of their first gaming application

Yorkshire based software development company 3Squared are having a double celebration after the launch of their first game on iTunes attracted the attention of Apple as they welcomed the 10th member of staff to the team.

3Squared have been involved in many application developments since the inauguration of Apple’s App Store in 2008 but these were initially  bespoke business applications designed for their many diverse clients.

Things took a different turn when the 3squared team developed a game, Finger Ninja, which they felt had a wider commercial appeal. Tim Jones explained "everyone in the office was getting bored of their iPhone games and I decided to produce one we could all play. What started as something to satisfy our competitive-streak during the lunch break became a game that other people were also interested in."

Finger Ninja has now reached over 100 downloads per day and has generated significant interest reaching #13 in the paid music game chart in the US store and #11 in the UK.

Following the rising success of Finger Ninja, Apple spotted the game’s potential and has featured it on their front page in the “What We’re Playing” section of the UK and US iTunes stores, showing that the application has even found favour with company insiders.

Tim Jones comments "We were really surprised to see the game so highly featured and Apple have also emailed us to discuss potentially including Finger Ninja in one of their forthcoming advertising campaigns. It’s truly exciting that our expertise and knowledge are being recognised to such a high level. Our new staff member, Rob, couldn’t be joining us at a better time. We’re thrilled to have him in the team and are looking forward to continuing our growth in the near future."
